Basic materials stocks advanced 0.3% on Wall Street on Wednesday morning.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, the Nasdaq stayed level and the S&P 500 remained flat.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI[1]): SHI stock is up 5.1% today.

• Westlake Chemical Corp (WLK[2]): WLK stock is up 3.1% today and up 23.7% in the last month.

• Rockwood Holdings (ROC[3]): ROC stock is up 2.8% today.

• Enpro Industries (NPO[4]): NPO stock is up 1.3%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Stillwater Mining Company (SWC[5]): SWC stock is up 1.6% today.

• PPG Industries (PPG[6]): PPG stock is up 1.3% today.

• Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB[7]): LYB stock is up 1.2% to a new 52-week high of $99.64.

• Eastman Chemical Company (EMN[8]): EMN stock is up 1.0% today.

• Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL[9]): AXLL stock is up 1.0%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Monsanto Company (MON[10]): MON stock is up 1.1%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL[11]): ROLL stock is down 5.7% today.

• Rexnord Corp (RXN[12]): RXN stock is down 4.6% today.

• Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF[13]): CLF stock is down 2.8% today.

• First Majestic Silver (AG[14]): AG stock is down 2.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Innophos Holdings (IPHS[15]): IPHS stock is down 2.8% today.

• Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH[16]): TNH stock is down 2.3% today.

• Rio Tinto Plc (RIO[17]): RIO stock is down 2.2% today.
