Hyundai Snags Title of Greenest Automaker

Hyundai is the greenest automaker in the U.S., according to a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

hyundai logo 300x225 Hyundai Snags Title of Greenest AutomakerThe nonprofit said that Hyundai’s success can be attributed to “turbocharging and downsizing engines in a number of its models while also introducing hybrid-electric versions of two of its top-selling vehicles, the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima.” The ranking is largely determined by tailpipe emissions.

Honda (HMC) grabbed second place in the UCS report of the greenest automakers in the country. Third place was a three-way tie by Toyota (TM), Nissan and Volkswagen.

HMC stock is up about 0.37% on Tuesday. TM stock is up 0.3%.
