Microsoft (MSFT) has responded immediately to the zero-day bug that affects Internet Explorer users.
The company has issued an update that fixes the vulnerability for users of all modern Windows operating systems. Windows XP users will also get support even though the support period for the outdated platform ended weeks ago.
Users with Automatic Updates enabled do not have to do anything as their zero-day bug will be fixed during the next update. However, running Windows Update will apply the fix immediately and ensure that the Internet Explorer bug is contained.
“[T]he security of our products is something we take incredibly seriously,” said Microsoft Trustworthy Computing General Manager Adrienne Hall. “When we saw the first reports about this vulnerability we decided to fix it, fix it fast, and fix it for all our customers.”
MSFT stock is down about 1% on Thursday.
