Levi Strauss CEO Chip Bergh advises people to not wash their jeans.
According to Bergh, it’s better to spot clean or air dry jeans. The Levi CEO said all of this while wearing a pair of jeans that he claims haven’t been washed in a year. He backed his statement up by saying he has never gotten a skin disease from wearing his unwashed pants, reports 10News.
Other examples of cleaning jeans without washing them include spraying them with white vinegar or alcohol, freezing them to remove bacteria and wearing them inside out in the shower, 10News notes.
The freezing method of cleaning jeans has come under scrutiny as it doesn’t kill all of the bacteria. One scientist claims that heating the material up to 121 degrees Celsius for around 10 minutes will kill the bacteria, reports CNN.
