On Tuesday, MSFT dropped the requirement that forced Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold in order to access entertainment apps through their consoles. In order to receive a refund for Xbox Live Gold, Xbox owners must file an online request by Aug. 31. Refunds will take between six and eight weeks, CraveOnline notes.
MSFT is planning to remove the Xbox Live Gold paywall restriction on the Xbox consoles when it issues a software update in June.
In a bid to bolster its competitiveness with the PS4, MSFT has also announced that consumers can purchase the Xbox One without its Kinect sensor, cutting $100 off the console’s price.
MSFT stock sank modestly in Wednesday morning trading.
