Netflix (NFLX) is hogging about 1/3 of the total traffic streamed over the Internet during peak hours.
A new study shows that the streaming service is responsible for 34% of Internet traffic downloaded during the peak evening hours of North America this year so far. That number was 32% in the second half of 2013.
Netflix’s bandwidth usage has increased recently with 48.4 million customers streaming from abroad. 35.7 million of those users are located in the U.S.
YouTube (GOOG) is responsible for the second-highest amount of traffic during peak hours with 13%. This number was 19% half a year ago.
NFLX stock is up about 1.4% Wednesday. GOOG stock is down 1.2%.
