NFLX: Netflix Is Hogging 1/3 of Peak Internet Traffic

Netflix (NFLX[1]) is hogging[2] about 1/3 of the total traffic streamed over the Internet during peak hours.

Netflix NFLX: Netflix Is Hogging 1/3 of Peak Internet Traffic[3]A new study shows that the streaming service is responsible for 34% of Internet traffic downloaded during the peak evening hours of North America this year so far. That number was 32% in the second half of 2013.

Netflix’s bandwidth usage has increased recently with 48.4 million customers streaming from abroad. 35.7 million of those users are located in the U.S.

YouTube (GOOG[4]) is responsible for the second-highest amount of traffic during peak hours with 13%. This number was 19% half a year ago.

NFLX stock is up about 1.4% Wednesday. GOOG stock is down 1.2%.
