Xbox One June Updates: External Storage, Real Names

Microsoft (MSFT[1]) has announced the Xbox One June updates[2] and they’re pretty awesome.

Xbox One[3]Gamers have been asking for more storage since the console launched in November as many Xbox One games are released as digital downloads. Microsoft has responded by having the console support up to two external storage devices including a 256 GB or larger and USB 3.0.

The move will give gamers more flexibility with their games, allowing them to store more games and data over multiple devices. However, users will not be able to play Xbox One games from the external storage device until they move it into the console.

The other big June update for Xbox One users has to do with how their friends list looks. Gamers can now find their friends by looking for their real names if their friends decide to share that information with them.

SmartGlass users will also have access to a few new treats with the update including OneGuide and Universal Remote Control support.
