Yacon syrup could become a new weight loss fad thanks to Dr. Oz.
Dr. Oz praised yacon syrup in an episode of his show that originally aired on November 4 and again aired on May 26. During the show, Dr. Oz introduced 60 women who had taken a teaspoon of the natural sugar replacement before breakfast, lunch and dinner. 73% of the women lost an average of three pounds and 2 inches off their waist, reports Examiner.com.
Yacon syrup comes from the South American yacon plant and is used on the continent for diets and as a sugar substitution. The syrup only has 7 calories per teaspoon and and helps to boost the metabolism while suppressing the appetite, Examiner.com notes.
