Miami Heat player LeBron James will reportedly received about $30 million from the AAPL-Beats merger due to a small equity stake he received under a promotional deal with Beats back in 2008, TechCrunch notes.
LeBron James was one of the first big name athletes to promote Beats Electronics pricey line of headphones.
AAPL is paying a reported $3 billion to acquire the headphone-maker and streaming music service operator. The deal will bring Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre to the iPhone-maker.
Of course, LeBron James was already a very well paid basketball star prior to the AAPL-Beats windfall. According to Forbes, LeBron James had earned $72.3 million as of June 2014, putting him at No. 3 on the Forbes list of The World’s Highest Paid Athletes.
