Basic materials stocks finished flat on Thursday on Wall Street.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, the Nasdaq was steady and the S&P 500 was unchanged.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Barrick Gold Corp (ABX[1]): ABX stock is up 1.4% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO[2]): EGO stock is up 1.3% today and up 25.7% in the last month.
- Sealed Air Corp (SEE[3]): SEE stock is up 1.1% today.
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX[4]): CENX stock is up 1.1% today.
- United States Steel Corp (X[5]): X stock is up 1.0%, marking the 10th consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Goldcorp Inc (GG[6]): GG stock is up 0.9% today.
- Newmont Mining Corp (NEM[7]): NEM stock is up 0.8% today.
- Iamgold Corp (IAG[8]): IAG stock is up 0.8% today and up 31.9% in the last month.
- Greif Bros. Corp (GEF[9]): GEF stock is up 0.7% today.
- Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd (HMY[10]): HMY stock is up 0.7% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Worthington Industries (WOR[11]): WOR stock is down 2.0% today.
- Scotts Miracle-Gro Company (SMG[12]): SMG stock is down 1.2% today.
- Calgon Carbon Corp (CCC[13]): CCC stock is down 1.1% today.
- Carpenter Technology Corp (CRS[14]): CRS stock is down 1.1% today.
- Precision Castparts Corp (PCP[15]): PCP stock is down 1.1% today.
- Cytec Industries Inc (CYT[16]): CYT stock is down 1.0% today.
- Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW[17]): CLW stock is down 1.0% today.
- Minerals Technologies Inc (MTX[18]): MTX stock is down 1.0% today.
