Basic materials stocks finished up 0.1% on Wall Street today.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.3%, the Nasdaq fell 0.2% and the S&P 500 declined 0.3%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM[1]): HBM stock is up 2.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Iamgold Corp (IAG[2]): IAG stock is up 2.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE[3]): GPRE stock is up 1.8% today.

• Cytec Industries Inc (CYT[4]): CYT stock is up 1.7% to a new 52-week high of $103.83.

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI[5]): SHI stock is up 1.5% today.

• Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB[6]): LYB stock is up 1.4% today.

• Balchem Corp (BCPC[7]): BCPC stock is up 1.4% today.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK[8]): BAK stock is up 1.3% today.

• Newmont Mining Corp (NEM[9]): NEM stock is up 1.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• A. Schulman (SHLM[10]): SHLM stock is up 1.2%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Mueller Industries (MLI[11]): MLI stock is down 1.0% today on 3 times normal volume.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM[12]): SIM stock is down 0.9% today.
