Basic materials stocks rose 0.4% on Wall Street today.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.3%, the Nasdaq was up 0.3% and the S&P 500 pushed 0.3% higher.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Novagold Resources Inc (NG[1]): NG stock is up 3.3% today and up 28.3% in the last month.

• Yamana Gold (AUY[2]): AUY stock is up 2.5%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Aurico Gold Inc (AUQ[3]): AUQ stock is up 2.2%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• United States Steel Corp (X[4]): X stock is up 1.7% today.

• Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW[5]): SLW stock is up 1.7%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• New Gold Inc (NGD[6]): NGD stock is up 1.6% today and up 21.9% in the last month.

• Barrick Gold Corp (ABX[7]): ABX stock is up 1.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Steel Dynamics (STLD[8]): STLD stock is up 1.4% today.

• First Majestic Silver (AG[9]): AG stock is up 1.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• H. B. Fuller Company (FUL[10]): FUL stock is up 1.2% today.

• Valhi Inc (VHI[11]): VHI stock is down 1.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
