Financial stocks remained flat so far on Wednesday on Wall Street.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was unchanged, the Nasdaq was steady and the S&P 500 stayed level.

Some of the biggest gainers among financial stocks include:

• Protective Life Corp (PL[1]): PL stock is up 18.0%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• MBIA Inc (MBI[2]): MBI stock is up 4.6% today.

• Metlife Inc (MET[3]): MET stock is up 2.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Prudential Financial Inflation Retail (PRU[4]): PRU stock is up 2.3%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• XL Company Switzerland Gmbh (XL[5]): XL stock is up 1.9% to $32.99, near the 52-week high of $33.12.

• Lincoln National Corp (LNC[6]): LNC stock is up 1.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Cno Financial Group (CNO[7]): CNO stock is up 2.1%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• National Penn Bancshares (NPBC[8]): NPBC stock is up 0.9%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Stancorp Financial Group (SFG[9]): SFG stock is up 1.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Genworth Financial Inc (GNW[10]): GNW stock is up 1.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among financial stocks include:

• CBOE Holdings (CBOE[11]): CBOE stock is down 2.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Royal Bank Scotland Group Plc (RBS[12]): RBS stock is down 1.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Bbva Banco Frances S.A. (BFR[13]): BFR stock is down 0.4% today.

• E*Trade Financial Corp (ETFC[14]): ETFC stock is down 1.6% today.

• Brookfield Asset Management Inc (BAM[15]): BAM stock is down 1.2% today.

• Itau Unibanco Banco Holding Sa (ITUB[16]): ITUB stock is down 1.2% today.

• Barclays Plc (BCS[17]): BCS stock is down 1.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• China Life Insurance Company Limited (LFC[18]): LFC stock is down 1.2% today.

• Woori Finance Holdings Co Ltd (WF[19]): WF stock is down 1.1% today.
