Justin Bieber has apologized for a video of him telling a racist joke that has recently surfaced.
The video shows a 15-year-old Justin Bieber telling the offensive joke and using the “N word” during filming for his Never Say Never documentary. The pop star apologized for his younger self’s actions and said that he didn’t realize how hurtful repeating jokes like that was at the time. He also noted that racism doesn’t have a place in society, reports Entertainment Weekly.
“Five years ago I made a reckless and immature mistake and I’m grateful to those close to me who helped me learn those lessons as a young man,” Justin Bieber told TMZ. “Once again….I’m sorry.”
