Everyone was talking about the girl who got kicked out of a KFC (YUM) last week but was the whole thing a hoax?

hoaxIn the original story, three-year-old Victoria Wilcher was allegedly kicked out of a Jackson, Mississippi KFC because she had scars from a dog attack that was scaring customers. The chain agreed to pay $30,000 worth of medical bills to help treat the young girl’s wounds but it looks like the family might have made it all up.

A local newspaper claims that the incident never happened and it was nothing more than a hoax done to get some money out of KFC. The story claims that surveillance video from two KFC locations in the area do not show any children that looked like Wilcher on the day of the incident.

The family is fervently denying these claims, writing on a Facebook page in support of Wilcher that the investigation is still ongoing and the incident actually happened.

YUM stock is up 0.5% Tuesday afternoon.
