Samsung (SSNLF) has reportedly contacted the company about a buyout. Private equity firms have also inquired about buying the computer software company.
Nuance Communications focuses on developing software for speech and imaging applications including speech recognition programs, medical transcription software and desktop imaging software. The company is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts and Paul Ricci serves as chairman and CEO.
Sources close to the matter have not commented on how long talks between Samsung and Nuance have been going on or whether or not the company is close to a sale.
NUAN stock is up over 10% Monday afternoon.
