TWTR FAIL: Jimmy Graham’s Twitter Bio May Cost Him Millions

The matter has gone to arbitration

A National Football League (NFL) player could miss out on a huge payment because of something he said in his Twitter (TWTR) account biography.

FootballJimmy Graham is contesting a decision by the New Orleans Saints to designate him as a tight end. Instead, Graham insists he’s actually a wide receiver. The difference in designated positions matters because under his contract with the team, he will only be paid $7 million as a tight end, but would get an addition $5.3 million as a wide receiver, USA TODAY notes.

The issue of what position Graham should be designated has gone to arbitration. As part of its evidence in the proceeding, the NFL is quoting Graham’s own TWTR bio, in which he describes himself as a tight end.

Graham and the Players Association notes that he takes the field 67% of the time as a wide receiver.

In addition to his TWTR bio, Graham also describes himself as a tight end for the New Orleans Saints on his own website.

A decision in the arbitration is not expected for several days.
