260 cases of Velveeta cheese sold in Walmart (WMT) stores have been recalled voluntarily because the products did not contain the “appropriate levels of sorbic acid” which are needed to preserve the product. Kraft added in a statement that the consumer package code for the recalled batch is 021000611614.
The date stamp for the packages reads “17 DEC 2014,” and the time frame is between 10:54 and 14:35. The Velveeta recall affects Walmart stores in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
KRFT stock is up about 0.6% and WMT stock is down about 0.6% Friday afternoon.
