The page consisted of pictures of overweight people — mostly teenagers — that people would post and mock. The number on the page refers to the area code for Yuba-Sutter in northern California.
’530 Fatties’ was soon discovered by some of the page’s victims and they contacted police. The cyber bullying page was shut down but authorities have yet to find out who’s behind ’530 Fatties.’
Cyber bullying continues to be a big problem with about 1 in 2 teenagers experiencing it at least once. Bullying online can lead to depression and even suicide.
