Walmart (WMT), Sears (SHLD) and Amazon (AMZN) pulled a disturbing poster from its listings that was sold by a third-party.
The poster featured an imaged of the front game of the Dachau Concentration Camp, a Nazi concentration camps. The gate shows an inscription that reads “Arbeit Macht Frei” which translates to “Work will make you free.”
Satirical blog site Wonkette discovered the Nazi poster on Walmart’s website and lashed out against it. The retail giant took the poster down and apologized for the move, blaming a third-party seller that listed it on Walmart’s website.
The poster was also on sale on Sears Marketplace and Amazon. “The item, which was listed by an independent third-party on Sears Marketplace, violates our guidelines and was immediately removed,” Sears said.
WMT stock is up about 0.7% Wednesday afternoon. SHLD stock is up 0.8% and AMZN stock is up 1.9%.
