Apple typically holds it iPhone 6 announcements in September and the tech giant has just scheduled “big media event” on September 9. The event is expected to show off the 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6. It’s unknown if the company will also show off the 5.5-inch version of the upcoming smartphone at the event, reports BGR.

Other reports claim that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 in mid-September following the announcement event. This would fall in line with the company’s release practices in the past. iOS 8 is also expected to be released sometime between the iPhone 6’s announcement event and its official launch, BGR notes.

A mid-September release for the iPhone 6 matches up with rumors of the device’s release. A flyer spotted in China listed the smartphone’s release date as September 19. This is the same date that Deutsche Telekom, a wireless-network provider in Germany, claimed that Apple’s new smartphone would be released, reports International Business Times.
