Amazon Fight: AMZN Blocks Pre-Orders of Disney Movies

Amazon (AMZN[1]) has blocked pre-orders[2] of Disney (DIS[3]) movies in its newest dispute.

It’s unknown why exactly Amazon has blocked pre-orders of Disney movies and neither company is willing to comment on the matter. What is known is that there is a dispute between the two companies and the online retailer is turning to tactics its used before during times of conflict, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Other retailers with online stores, such as Walmart (WMT[5]) and Barnes & Noble (BKS[6]), are still allowing customers to pre-order Disney movies. Disney movies affected by the Amazon block include Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Maleficent and more, WSJ notes.

Amazon is only blocking physical pre-orders[7] of Disney movies. Those looking to pre-order through the online retailer’s Instant Video service can still do so.

Amazon is also currently in a dispute with book publisher Hatchette. The online retailer has been accused of delaying shipping of the publisher’s books[8] during the dispute. It has also demanded that Hatchette lower prices on its e-books[9]. Over the weekend, an ad in The New York Times[10] called for readers to protest the online retailer over its dispute with Hatchette.
