Walmart’s plans for upgrading its website sound like it’s trying to take on Amazon (AMZN) in regards to e-commerce. New features that will be added to the website in the coming months include more personalized product recommendations, discounts at local stores being available online, a faster system for checking out and updated item pages.
Walmart’s announcement also gave details on the retailer’s updates made to its new e-commerce platform. The company claims to have been working on this new platform for two years and are finally ready to use it. It includes the company’s search engine, personalized recommendations and other features. The company built this system from the ground up.
WMT stock was down slightly as of Tuesday afternoon.
