Basic materials stocks finished flat on Thursday on Wall Street.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, the Nasdaq fell 0.1% and the S&P 500 stayed level.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI[1]): SHI stock is up 4.2% today on 4 times normal volume.
- Valhi Inc (VHI[2]): VHI stock is up 2.9% today.
- Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM[3]): AEM stock is up 1.5% today.
- Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW[4]): SLW stock is up 1.3% today.
- Crown Cork & Seal Company (CCK[5]): CCK stock is up 0.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Agrium Inc (AGU[6]): AGU stock is up 0.7% today.
- Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd (HMY[7]): HMY stock is up 0.7% today.
- FMC Corp (FMC[8]): FMC stock is up 0.6% today.
- Olin Corp (OLN[9]): OLN stock is up 0.6% today.
- Hecla Mining Company (HL[10]): HL stock is up 0.6% today.

- Steel Dynamics (STLD[12]): STLD stock is down 1.5% today.
- Sun Hydraulics Corp (SNHY[13]): SNHY stock is down 1.4% today.
- Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM[14]): HBM stock is down 1.3% today on 2 times normal volume.
- Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI[15]): ATI stock is down 1.2% today.
- Kaiser Aluminum Corp (KALU[16]): KALU stock is down 1.1% today.
