More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.2%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.3% higher and the S&P 500 was up 0.2%.

Some of the biggest gainers among healthcare stocks include:

• Charles River Laboratories Intl (CRL): CRL stock is up 2.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• The Medicines Company (MDCO): MDCO stock is up 2.1%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Questcor Pharmaceuticals (QCOR): QCOR stock is up 2.1% today.

• Theravance (THRX): THRX stock is up 1.9% today.

• Opko Health Inc (OPK): OPK stock is up 1.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Myriad Genetics (MYGN): MYGN stock is up 1.4% today.

• Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (KERX): KERX stock is up 0.9% today.

• Parexel International Corp (PRXL): PRXL stock is up 1.1%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Pacira Pharmaceuticals (PCRX): PCRX stock is up 0.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among healthcare stocks include:

• Thoratec Corp (THOR): THOR stock is down 25.5% today and down 25.8% in the last month.

• Kindred Healthcare (KND): KND stock is down 4.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Neurocrine Biosciences (NBIX): NBIX stock is down 3.8% today.

• NPS Pharmaceuticals (NPSP): NPSP stock is down 3.2% today.

• Ironwood Pharmaceuticals (IRWD): IRWD stock is down 2.9% today.

• Mylan Inc (MYL): MYL stock is down 2.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc (LGND): LGND stock is down 2.8% today.

• Novo Nordisk A/S (NVO): NVO stock is down 2.0% today.

• Boston Scientific Corp (BSX): BSX stock is down 1.9% today.

• Heartware International (HTWR): HTWR stock is down 2.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
