The company says that it will change barista schedules in order to give baristas more “stability and consistency.” The move was made following a New York Times piece written by a mother and Starbucks workers who found the schedules of baristas to affect her personal life too much.
Starbucks is upgrading the way it schedules barista shifts in order to avoid any back-to-back closing and opening shifts. The company also said that schedules will be posted one week in advance with no exceptions.
Starbucks employs more than 130,000 baristas in the U.S. and most of them are part-time workers.
SBUX stock is up 0.35% Friday afternoon.
