Walmart (WMT[1]) is looking to be your doctor and make health care cheaper[2].

Walmart[3]The retailer is opening primary care care clinics where walk-in visits will be available at the low cost of $40. Walmart will have nurse practitioners in these clinics as part of a partnership with QuadMed.

The move could help make health care even cheaper and more convenient as these clinics will be open 12 hours a day during the week and 8 hours a day during the weekends. Company associates and dependents on the company health plan will be able to see a provider in a clinic for only $4.

Walmart has already opened six of these clinics across South Carolina and Texas. The retailer plans on opening six more by the end of the year.

WMT stock is up about 0.6% Friday afternoon.
