Some iTunes users are upset over Apple (AAPL) forcing them to download U2’s newest album for free.
While U2’s newest album, titled Songs of Innocence, was given to iTunes users for free, some saw the forced download as an aggressive marketing campaign. However, others didn’t see the download due to settings in iTunes, reports CBS News.
Some iTunes users have started referring to the free download as the “U2 virus.” This is because users have no say on if they want the album or not. Users can delete the tracks from their devices, but they will always remain in their library. The only other option is to hide the album, CBS new notes.
Here are what a few Twitter (TWTR) users had to say about Apple’s free U2 download.
- “I just wanna exchange the magically storage space they used for that U2 album for my pictures.”
- “If I wanted to listen to U2 I would ask an elderly person to let me borrow a tape cassette.”
- “They put this U2 album on my iPhone without me knowing. Who knows what else they can do.”
- “I’ll own a U2 album when you pry it into my cold, dead iTunes.”
- “How do you erase this U2 album off your phone. It’s like a virus.”
