Google Inc (GOOG) continues to go about its business in the notebook market, despite the fact that many people continue to look the other way.

Notebooks are often times overlooked in favor of smartphones and tablets, given their increasing functionality and superior portability. Google, however, has made major strides with its Chromebook business and it does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

According to Digitimes Research, processor makers Rockchip and MediaTek are getting onboard the Chromebook bandwagon, which will only help the Big G as the company continues to grow this segment of its business.

Google has been looking for ways to support more processors through its Chromebooks, and it appears the time has finally come. Digitimes added the following:

“Chromebook-supported processors will include solutions from MediaTek and Rockchip in 2015, helping vendors to develop LTE-based inexpensive Chromebooks, according to information obtained by Digitimes Research from the upstream supply chain.”

This is big news for Google, as it will give vendors the ability to develop even more affordable Chromebooks, which in turn should help grow shipments and sales.

Digitimes is expecting this decision to cut prices and boost device values, leading to a Chromebook shipment increase of 100%.
