Tesla Motors’ (TSLA) Model S is expected to reach its 50,000 sales milestone this month.

tsla-tesla-tesla-model-s-salesThe Tesla Model S saw estimated sales by the end of September reach 46,928. The electric sedan is expected to reach 51,300 or more sales by November 1. Even if the car doesn’t reach the goal by this month, it’s likely to occur soon, reports HybridCars.

In comparison, Nissan’s Leaf was released in late 2010 and only reached its 50,000 sales milestone in early 2013. This gave it about two years to reach those sales. Tesla is a newer manufacturer and if estimates hold true it will have reached the milestone in almost the same amount of time, HybridCars notes.

Tesla has been expanding its global presence and making efforts to offer its vehicles in more areas. It recently started selling the Model S in China through Alibaba (BABA).

TSLA shares were up 1% as of Tuesday afternoon.
