The new Facebook gender option allows users to change their gender to to whatever they please. All they have to do is type in whatever they identify as. The option was implemented in the United States on Thursday, reports the Associated Press.

Users that choose to use the new Facebook gender option can also choose how they would like to be addressed in posts. This includes using the pronouns “he and his, she and her or they and their”. It’s estimated that there are roughly 700,000 people in the US that identified as transgender, the Associated Press notes.

Using the new Facebook gender option is easy. All users have to do is go to “Edit Profile” from their Timeline and then click on the “Contact and Basic Info” tab. From here, users can click to edit their gender. There are three options and typing in a custom option will bring it up in a drop box for the user to click on. After this, the user just has to save the settings.
