Southwest Airlines to Keep Flying 128 Planes That Missed Inspections

Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) had to cancel roughly 80 flights on Tuesday due to missed inspections.

The airline contacted federal safety regulators and was told it can still use the planes so long as the inspections are completed in five days, reports ABC News.

Southwest Airlines is planning to keep flying the planes and will have them undergo inspections at night. The planes that missed their inspections were Boeing (NYSE:BA) 737 and 700 jets, ABC News notes.

Not all planes will be flying while the inspections occur. The airline has announced plans to cancel up to 19 flights on Wednesday while the planes that would have compelted them undergo inspections, reports CBS News.

LUV shares were down 1% as of Wednesday morning.
