Wednesday Apple Rumors: Apple to Open R&D Facility in Japan in 2016

apple-rumors-rd-japan-2016-aapl4K: Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPLMacBook Pros and Airs can handle 4K displays running at 60Hz, reports Arstechnica. The online publication hooked both MacBook Pros and Airs up to test if they could handle a 4K display at 60Hz. Apple’s official website claims that the two devices can’t, but it’s wrong. The 4K display at 60Hz outcome was achieved with a DisplayPort 1.2 cable. Last year’s MacBook Pros and Airs could only achieve a resolution of 2560×1440.

Water: A plan from Apple to recycle water at its Campus 2 has been approved, 9to5Mac notes. The new project was approved by the Santa Clara Valley Water District. The tech company will provide partial funding for the plan, which will include laying pipe out to move the recycled water with. It’s teaming up with Sunnyvale and the California Water Service Company to complete the project. Construction of the project is expected to start in August of this year. The project is expected to be finished in October 2016.

R&D: Apple is planing to build a research and development facility in Japan, reports AppleInsider. The new R&D facility is going to be built in Yokohama. It will be built in an area that housed part of a Panasonic factory that is now shutdown. The new facility will take up 269,000 square feet and will be four stories tall. Construction of the R&D compound will start in 2015 and it’s expected to be complete sometime in 2016.
