AT&T Data Breach Results in $25M Fine for the Company

An AT&T (NYSE:T) data breach will cost the company $25 million.

AT&TThe company is shelling out the civil penalty with the Federal Communications Commission to settle the data breach, which revealed full or partial Social Security numbers of 280,000.

The AT&T data breach occurred in a number of call centers in Mexico, Colombia and the Philippine. An investigation showed that several call center employees accessed accounts without authorization, exposing the information of thousands.

“Protecting customer privacy is critical to us,” an AT&T spokesman said. “We hold ourselves and our vendors to a high standard.”

T stock is down 0.12% Wednesday.
