U.S. markets continued their ascent from Wednesday, albeit nimbly, as Asian markets were stable and good news on interest rates from Europe gave investors a bit of a breather after so much recent volatility.

Why SunEdison Inc (SUNE), Frontier Communications Corp (FTR) and Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) Are 3 of Today's Best StocksEuropean Central Bank President Mario Draghi announced they will keep quantitative easing the same, and also raise the cap on the amount of any one asset it can buy, from 25% to 33%.

In addition, the ECB said it will keep interest rates unchanged, and reduced its forecast for inflation.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index were both up 16 basis points, while the Nasdaq Composite was 30 basis points lower. Sectors were mostly higher, with telecommunications and basic materials stocks especially stronger on the day.

Although there were not a huge number of stocks that were up significantly today, three that did perform well were SunEdison Inc (NYSE:SUNE), Frontier Communications Corp (NASDAQ: FTR) and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS). Here’s why they made the list of today’s three best stocks.

SunEdison Inc (SUNE)

SUNE blasted 10% higher today after CEO Ahmad Chatila promised investors that SUNE will see an improved cash flow before the end of this year. The funds will come from renewable energy projects in which SUNE is invested. SUNE will then sell these projects to other companies that Chatila controls.

SUNE stock lost more than two-thirds of its value over the last few months, as investors feared that the solar energy company would not have enough funds to continue operations. However, in the last week SUNE stock has rebounded nicely, and today’s promise reassured nervous investors quite well.

Frontier Communications Corp (FTR)

FTR stock got a real boost today after the Federal Communications Commission approved Frontier’s purchase of a portion of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) wire line, broadband and video operations. The purchase will also include FiOS operations in three states: California, Florida and Texas.

Frontier still needs approval from the Public utility commissions in both California and Texas. The acquisition should be completed sometime in early 2016.

FTR rallied nearly 6% on the day.

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS)

HAS stock was performing well today, following the upgrade this week by Piper Jaffray Companies from “neutral” to “overweight,” while keeping the target price at $85.

The catalyst prompting the upgrade is the potential of Hasbro’s new Star Wars toys, which are expected to be blockbuster sellers with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In addition, Piper liked that HAS recently sustained a pull back from $82 to $70, and sees the current price as a buying opportunity.

Hasbro was also named by Forbes this week as one of three stocks to prosper from the new Star Wars film, which will come out in December.

Stores will, however, begin selling Hasbro’s Star Wars toys immediately.

HAS stock was up over 3% today.

As of this writing, Ethan Roberts does not hold a position in any of the aforementioned securities.
