Data from International Data Corporation puts the fall in PC sales for the third quarter of 2015 at 11%. Gartner claims that the fall in sales is only at about 8%, but neither is a good sign for personal computers. Part of the drop in sales is likely due to rising prices from the strong dollar, reports International Business Times.

One factor that is likely affecting the decline in PC sales is the release of Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows 10, which is a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8 users. Offering the new operating system as a free upgrade likely made many people skip over buying a new computer. However, analysts believe that personal computers could see a comeback in 2016, International Business Times notes.

If PC sales are going to start rising again in 2016, it would definitely be a change from how the market has been in the last few years. Sales of personal computer have been on the decline for the last 14 quarters.
