It appears that the Cincinnati Zoo deleted its Twitter account late on Monday. Many users were posting memes about Harambe, the gorilla that was killed earlier this year after a child fell into his enclosure, and generally giving the account a hard time. Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard asked users to stop, but his request went unheard.

It isn’t just the Cincinnati Zoo’s Twitter account that has been deleted. The organization has also deactivated its Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) account. The zoo also received much criticism over Harambe’s death on this account as well.

The Cincinnati Zoo wasn’t the only one that was affected by the memes. Over the weekend, Maynard also had his Twitter account hacked. The hackers used his account to share various Harambe through the social media service. However, it appears that Maynard took control of his account again, but has now deleted it, reports Fox News.

Here’s what some users have to say about the controversy on Twitter.

  • “Harambe memes are genuinely unfunny and anyone who makes them is a tryhard beating a dead meme.”
  • “The slaying of Harambe really showed Millennials how precious life is and that you need to seize the moment.”
  • “The Cincinnati Zoo can delete their Twitter but they can’t delete their wrongs we’re fighting for you Harambe.”
  • “I want a Harambe 2016 bumper sticker.”
  • “Stfu u don’t know pain till u was up @ 3 am crying and making harambe memes.”
