Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has announced a recall of several different cars due to a risk that the doors will fly open while in use.

The Ford recall includes 766,682 cars that were sold in the United States and federalized territories. Another 61,371 vehicles that are affected by the recall were sold in Mexico.

Ford said that the recall had to be made due to the possibility of the pawl spring tab in the side door latch breaking. This can keep the door from latching, but it can also cause it to fly open if the owner has managed to latch the door.

The Ford recall was announced after one accident was reported along with a single injury. It said the majority of reports concerning the doors came from areas with “higher ambient temperatures and solar loading.” Due to this, the recall is primarily for vehicles in “Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Oregon and Washington.”

Vehicles affected by the Ford recall can be taken to dealerships for repairs. This will be done at no cost to the owner.
