Zendaya Coleman and Jona Xaio have been cast for unspecified roles in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie.

Neither of the actresses have had their roles for the film confirmed, but there has been loads of fan speculation. While there’s less known about Xaio’s role in the movie, rumor has it that Zendaya could be taking on the role of Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s love interest, in the film.

Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson is still just a rumor, but it hasn’t stopped fans from reacting to the possible casting. Some aren’t happy with the racial switch of the character, but others seem to be fine with it. Stan Lee has come out in support of the change and Spider-Man writer Dan Slott also supports it. This still doesn’t confirm if the rumor it true, though, reports Cinema Blend.

“For me, if a character’s primary attribute – the thing that makes them iconic – is the color of their skin, or their hair color, frankly, that character is shallow and sucks,” James Gunn, director of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, told Geek.com in support of Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson.

Another casting confirmed for Spider-Man: Homecoming is Michael Keaton. The actor’s role in the film is unknown, but rumor has it he’ll be playing the villain Vulture. Keaton isn’t a stranger to comic book movies. He played the title character in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a joint effort between Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) and Walt Disney Co’s (NYSE:DIS) Marvel Studios. Tom Holland first appeared as this version of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year.
