The e-commerce retailer lists Apple chargers as being genuine computer chargers manufactured by the tech giant. However, the Cupertino-based company is warning customers that these are actually fake.

Apple bought a number of these chargers from Amazon to check the veracity of these products and the results were shocking. The company found that 90% of these items were fake that were manufactured using significantly cheaper materials.

Not only are these products not as efficient as real Apple chargers, but they are also more dangerous as their poor manufacturing puts customers at risk of electrocuting themselves or sparking a fire.

The lawsuit is against Mobile Star LLC, the third party company that develops and sells these products. “These counterfeits have the potential to overheat, catch fire, and deliver a deadly electric shock to consumers while in normal use,” Apple wrote in the lawsuit.

The company also bought more than 100 iPhones, Apple power products and Lightning cables that were labeled as genuine, but the company discovered that 90% of these are phony as well.

In the latest Apple rumors, the company announced that it is selling two different LTE models, one of which is better than the other.

Amazon plans on hiring a total of about 120,000 workers as it gears up for the busy holiday season.

AAPL shares dipped 0.1% Thursday, while AMZN stock declined 0.8%.
