Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is planning to keep production of its Lincoln MKC in Kentucky.

Ford, Ford Motor Company, F, KentuckyThe decision to keep Lincoln MKC production in Kentucky comes after F’s William Ford spoke with President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday. The company was previously planning to move Lincoln MKC production. A new plant in Mexico was likely where production would have gone.

The decision to keep Lincoln MKC production in Kentucky will likely help Ford Motor Company avoid tariffs that Trump has proposed. This may include a 35% tariff on vehicles that come from Mexico. Trump was critical of F’s plan to move Lincoln MKC production to Mexico during his presidential run, but appears happy with the new change, reports USA Today.

“Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky – no Mexico,” Donlad Trump said in a post on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR). “I worked hard with Bill Ford to keep the Lincoln plant in Kentucky. I owed it to the great State of Kentucky for their confidence in me!”

While F was planning to move Lincoln MKC production out of Kentucky, it didn’t have any plans to cut jobs. It was instead planning to increase production of the Escape at the Louisville plant.

Despite the change in plans for Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln MKC production, its plans in Mexico haven’t changed much. The automobile manufacturer is still planning to invest in a plant in the country.

F stock was up 1% as of Noon Friday.
