The worldwide phenomenon has been designed to help young people become interested in coding. Here are nine things you should know about it:

  • The website of Hour of Code is a one-hour tutorial that helps to draw interest in coding as it teaches programming in a fun and interactive manner.
  • The global program exists in 45 languages around the world.
  • Over 180 countries offer the program, which draws millions of students and teachers.
  • You can check a number of details to limit the scope of your search when you start the program, including the ages of those who are trying to learn, as well as the length of your first appointment.
  • 2016 marks the third annual Hour of Code.
  • This year is being inspired by athletes around the world with a sports-themed coding.
  • Athletes such as Kobe Bryant, the Golden State Warriors Draymond Green, Serena Williams, Neymar Jr, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo Vieira from Real Madrid C.F. and the Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird are all helping to promote the programming service.
