Water stock investment is rising

Coming to be known as “Blue Gold,” water is rushing to the top of the world’s most investable natural resources. Over the last 50 years, freshwater withdrawals have tripled.

Water companies in the business of producing and implementing pumps, controllers and filters for wastewater treatment plants are set to see growth in revenues as the demand for clean water technology and infrastructure increases. Companies are investing in clean-water technologies such as purification, desalination and treatment.

Water stocks such as Xylem (XYL), Calgon Carbon Corporation (CCC), Northwest Pipe (NWPX) and Aqua America (WTR) should be solid buys for years to come, especially as renewable energy efforts ramp up.
