We’ve stated months ago that Mitt Romney should consider a woman for the VP spot, and it looks like his wife might agree with us.
In a interview with CBS This Morning that aired Thursday, Ann Romney said she and Mitt have “been looking at” the possibility of choosing a woman to fill the VP spot. “And I’d love that option as well,” she continued.
Although Ann Romney has limited involvement in discussions regarding the presidential candidate’s No.2 pick, she told CBS that she’s given the matter a lot of thought.
So who does Mrs. Romney think would be a good fit for her husband?
“I think our country is in such deep trouble right now and it’s gonna take someone else that’s gonna be there with Mitt, that Mitt will enjoy, with the same personality type that will enjoy spending time with them, and also competent, capable, and willing to serve this country,” Ann Romney said in the interview.
When asked if she has a favorite choice for her husband’s running mate, Ann Romney smiled wide, laughed and said “I’d like to think that I have a few that I like a lot.”
Although the Romney Veepstakes is a top-secret mission, one woman has been rumored to be among the shortlist of potential running mates: Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.
Ann and Mitt Romney met with Ayotte at a July Fourth parade in Wolfeboro, N.H., yesterday.
