At a White House event on Thursday, President Barack Obama promoted his administration’s new “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative, aimed at supporting positive life outcomes for young African-American and Hispanic men.
Obama, the nation’s first African-American president, said “boys and young men of color” face “some of the most severe challenges” in modern America. The new Obama initiative seeks to help African-American and Hispanic youth avoid pitfalls including drug-use, crime, dropping out of school and joblessness, the Washington Post notes.
