The CIA Twitter account is now the CIA’s third social media account as the agency tries to become more accessible and transparent about its mission and objectives to the public. The agency also has a YouTube and a Flickr account.
“We have important insights to share, and we want to make sure that unclassified information about the Agency is more accessible to the American public that we serve, consistent with our national security mission,” CIA Director John Brennan said in a public release.
The agency added that it plans to post “news, statements, and career information” on the CIA Twitter account.
TWTR stock is down about 1.5% Friday afternoon.
