President Obama had a very good night with George Clooney.
The Ocean’s Eleven star hosted a private fundraiser for the president at his Los Angeles home Thursday night, raising almost $15 million for the president’s re-election campaign, Fox News reports.
The event drew high profile creative talent including Robert Downey Jr., Tobey Maguire, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Barbara Streisand.
It was a friendly crowd for the president, who arrived fresh off his Wednesday declaration of support for gay marriage, a mostly popular idea in Hollywood.
In fact, the president went out of his way to promote his change of heart on the subject, telling the assembled guests that permitting gay marriage was “a logical extension of the way America is supposed to be.”
Stressing that the 2012 campaign would be even harder than 2008’s, the president drew a contrast between himself and presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, telling guests that Romney wanted to amend the constitution to outlaw gay marriage.
Thursday night’s fundraiser followed two earlier fundraisers in Seattle.
