Yesterday’s presidential election was an opportunity for a variety of celebrities to make their political opinions known on social media platforms.

Among the big-name supporters of President Obama who tweeted their support — and eventually, their satisfaction at the outcome — included Cher, Paul McCartney, Fran Drescher, Pamela Anderson, Eve Longoria, Snoop Dog and Katy Perry, the Examiner noted.

I’ve been mostly silent throughout the 2012 election campaign. Conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican, we’re all interested in making profitable investments. Why ruin it with politics?

I’m going to stick my big toe into these political waters, though, because I’ve been getting a lot of mail from readers who are concerned about the election and want to know what — if any — effects it will have on their portfolios. It might sound somewhat cliché to say that there is a lot at stake for this country over the next four years, but it is true.

With many election officials worried about Superstorm Sandy’s possible effects on the election tomorrow, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie decided to take action.

Christie announced on Saturday that New Jersey voters displaced by Sandy will have the option to vote by e-mail or fax. Registered voters will have to send a ballot application by e-mail or fax to their local county clerk, who will then e-mail or fax back an appropriate ballot. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day.

According to New Jersey’s Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, the goal is to alleviate pressure on polling places tomorrow. In addition, New Jersey will be using military trucks in place of some damaged polling sites. Read
