A GOP group wants to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder by the end of the year.
According to Rep. Ted Yoho’s (R-Fla.) chief of staff, the congressman wants Holder removed from office for several of reasons. One of these reason is the Fast and Furious sting operation that resulted in Mexican drug cartels obtaining weapons from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ agents. One of the weapons from this sting operation was found at a scene where a Border Patrol agent was killed. Yoho said that he plans to meet with John Boehner (R-Ohio) to discuss the issue. Boehner is the current House Speaker and he can decide if the issue will be brought up or not. The house can move to impeach a cabinet member, but it has only been done once before when Secretary of War William Belknap was impeached in 1876 for corruption allegations, reports the Huffington Post.
Yoho has previously suggested that President Barrack Obama wasn’t born in the United States and that an unprecedented default would would do the world’s economy good, reports Mother Jones.
