NewLetters Joe Bidens Niece Arrested After Scuffle With PoliceVice President Joe Biden’s niece — Caroline Biden — was arrested Tuesday in New York after reportedly taking a swing at a police officer following a dispute with her roommate.

NYPD officers were called to the scene after the doorman heard the fight escalate. Biden, 26, was arguing with her roommate about money she owed, according to police.

Biden was taken to the hospital, however, after she reported having stomach pains.

From the New York Daily News:

Biden refused to respond to questions from reporters as paramedics put her in the back of an ambulance and drove her to Beth Israel Hospital.

Asked what was ailing Biden, a police source bristled, “What’s she not complaining about?”

A source told the newspaper that the 5-foot-4, 115-pound Biden “punched the male officer in the arm and chest and put up a struggle as she was being cuffed” the paper reported.

She was issued a desk appearance ticket on charges of misdemeanor obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and harassment with physical contact.

Once at the stationhouse, she had to be physically moved into a cell as she continued her struggle.
